Recap: Centennial Hawks vs. Volcano Vista Hawks
The Centennial Hawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 56-36 walloping at the hands of Volcano Vista. Centennial has not had much luck with Volcano Vista recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Centennial had strong showings from Audi Torrez, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds, and Hoku Pili, who scored nine points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Pili has scored all season.
Centennial bumped their record down to 3-6 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.7 points per game. As for Volcano Vista, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.
Centennial won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Ironwood Ridge at 9:45 a.m. on December 29th. Hopefully Ironwood Ridge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Thursday. Volcano Vista will finish 2023 at home by hosting Farmington at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Farmington will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line.
