Softball Recap: Kenmore West Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Kenmore West had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Lockport Lions. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 18-12 back in April.

Dani Hatch spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on 13 hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Claire McGillicuddy was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted over her last ten games. Ally Foglia was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Kenmore West was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Kenmore West's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Lockport, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Coincidentally, Kenmore West and Lockport will both be playing Grand Island the next time they take the field. The Lions will head out to face the Vikings at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, while the Blue Devils will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
