Football Recap: Cypress Takes a Loss

A win for Cypress just wasn't in the cards on Friday as the squad wasn't able to take the lead at any point. They had to suffer through a 37-7 loss at the hands of the Tustin Tillers. While losing is never fun, the Centurions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 311th, while the Tillers are ranked 54th).

Keiran Edmundson threw for 70 yards and a touchdown on only six passes. Mekaih Felix was his top target, picking up 60 receiving yards.

Eimesse Essis was his usual excellent self, rushing for 186 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.5 yards per carry, and also picking up 44 receiving yards for Tustin. Another player making a difference was Rufai Azeez, who picked up 66 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

This is the second loss in a row for Cypress and nudges their season record down to 2-4. As for Tustin, their record now sits at 5-1.

Cypress didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 50-22 loss against Capistrano Valley on the 11th. Tustin has also already played their next contest, a 35-14 victory against Trabuco Hills on the 11th.
