Baseball Recap: Cary Christian Comes Up Short

Cary Christian was the 5-1 winner over Durham Academy when they last played one another back in February of 2018, but their luck changed this time around. The Knights fell just short of the Cavaliers by a score of 3-2 on Friday. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Jacob Reeves put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases.

Reeves wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Mason Ashworth, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Zachary Lindstrom also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Cary Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Durham Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-8.

Cary Christian and Durham Academy could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. The Knights (ranked 124th) will meet Grace Christian (ranked tenth) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Durham Academy will square off against North Raleigh Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (385 vs. 42).
