Football Game Preview: Hesperia Scorpions vs. Sultana Sultans

The Hesperia Scorpions will head out on the road to face off against the Sultana Sultans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Hesperia fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Serrano on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They and the Diamondbacks were almost perfectly matched up, but they suffered a 36-35 defeat.

Despite their loss, Hesperia saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Zamar Malveaux, who rushed for 113 yards and a pair of TDs, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Da'Lon Williams, who rushed for 133 yards and one score on only 15 carries.

Meanwhile, Sultana was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were outmatched by Oak Hills and fell 63-6. While losing is never fun, the Sultans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 635th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 45th).

Although Sultana took the loss, they still got scores from Rafa . and Joanathan Silva.

The loss was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 5-3. As for Sultana, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

Everything came up roses for Hesperia against Sultana when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 28-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Scorpions since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
