Softball Recap: Fairmont Falls to West Brunswick in First Game of Season

Fairmont unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 12-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the West Brunswick Trojans on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Golden Tornadoes in their meetings with the Trojans: they've now lost three in a row.

Kensley Newberry was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Kimberleigh Stevens, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Fairmont didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 8-7 defeat against Jack Britt on the 26th. As for West Brunswick, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 16-12 win against Lumberton on the 27th.
