Baseball Recap: Wiley Panthers vs. Stratton Eagles

Wiley had lost ten straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 4-14-1 to make it 11. They came up short against the Stratton Eagles, falling 12-2. The Panthers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Eagles from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Wiley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rhett McDonald, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

As for Stratton, their win bumped their record up to 5-10. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

On Stratton's side, Gabriel Hornung spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on zero hits and racked up six Ks. Hornung also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Eagles are 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 3-9 otherwise.

At the plate, Von Isenbart was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Luis Arzaga also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Wiley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Stratton, they will head out on the road to take on Otis at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
