Softball Recap: Monrovia Wins Going Away Against San Marino

Monrovia never got on the board in their matchup last Tuesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against San Marino on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 16-5 margin over the Titans. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Titans recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Leilanni Ortega spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits.

On the hitting side, Mischa Lue-Long was a standout: she scored two runs while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Madison Cardona was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Monrovia's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-9-1. As for San Marino, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.

Looking ahead, Monrovia will host West Covina at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for San Marino, they will venture away from home to square off against La Canada at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
