Basketball Recap: Tarrant Mckenzie's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Aiken over North Augusta

Aiken lost against North Augusta back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Aiken Fighting Green Hornets fell 58-48 to the North Augusta Yellow Jackets. While losing is never fun, the Fighting Green Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 130th, while the Yellow Jackets are ranked first).

Aiken lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Tarrant McKenzie, who posted nine points. Tre'Von Walker was another key player, putting up 11 points and five rebounds.

Aiken's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 7-7. As for North Augusta, the win keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Aiken will take on Brookland-Cayce at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Aiken is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.6 points per game this season. As for North Augusta, they will be playing in front of their home fans against South Aiken at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in North Augusta's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
