Softball Recap: Desert Christian Takes a Loss

If Desert Christian was feeling good fresh off their 31-5 takedown of San Miguel last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Eagles fell just short of the Benson Bobcats by a score of 10-9 on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Bobcats: they've now lost eight in a row.

Alexa Yarger stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lilly Crawford, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Desert Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Benson, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-10.

Coincidentally, Desert Christian and Benson will both be playing Tombstone the next time they take the field. The Eagles will head out to face the Yellow Jackets at 3:45 p.m. on Monday, while the Bobcats will host them at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
