Soccer Game Preview: West vs. Cyprus

The West Panthers will head out to challenge the Cyprus Pirates at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

West will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one goal last Tuesday, then bounced right back against Granger on Thursday. The Panthers put the hurt on the Lancers with a sharp 4-0 victory. That four goal margin sets a new team best for West this season.

They hit Granger with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Sienna Ripperton (2), Alex Leonard, and Alisha Damian.

Meanwhile, Cyprus sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over West Jordan on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for Cyprus in their matchups with West Jordan: they've now won four in a row.

West now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Cyprus, their win bumped their record up to 9-7.

West skirted past Cyprus 1-0 when the teams last played back in September. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
