Football Game Preview: Antigo Red Robins vs. Wausau East Lumberjacks + Official Tickets

The Antigo Red Robins will venture away from home to square off against the Wausau East Lumberjacks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Antigo hasn't scored more than eight points for five games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.

Antigo's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against Mosinee on Friday. They had to suffer through a 41-0 loss at the hands of the Indians. While losing is never fun, the Red Robins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin football rankings (they are ranked 330th, while the Indians are ranked 98th).

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Wausau East, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 24-10 victory over Lakeland on Saturday. The Lumberjacks pushed the score to 24-3 by the end of the third, a deficit the Thunderbirds cut but never quite recovered from.

Antigo better keep an eye on Iain Stahel. He was instrumental in Wausau East's win, rushing for 150 yards. They are 3-1 when Stahel posts 100 or more rushing yards, but 0-4 otherwise.

Wausau East was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 226 rushing yards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 85.4 rushing yards per game earlier this season, but in their last five contests they've averaged 209.7.

Wausau East didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Gio Gomez, Tayshaun Williams, and Kayden Meverden picked up one apiece. Wausau East received some extra help from Stahel, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Antigo's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Wausau East, their record now sits at 3-5.

Antigo lost to Wausau East on the road by a decisive 40-21 margin when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Red Robins avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
