Basketball Game Preview: Mount Vernon Tigers vs. Winnsboro Raiders

Mount Vernon is 0-10 against Winnsboro since February of 2020 but things could change on Tuesday. The Mount Vernon Tigers will face off against the Winnsboro Raiders at 6:00 p.m.

It was a proper cat-fight when Mount Vernon took on Rains on Friday. Mount Vernon was outmatched by Rains and fell 63-35. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 396th, while the Wildcats are ranked 72nd).

Meanwhile, Winnsboro entered their tilt with Commerce on Friday with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. They blew past the Tigers 70-27. The Raiders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 20 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Mount Vernon's defeat dropped their record down to 15-11. As for Winnsboro, they pushed their record up to 30-3 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road.

Mount Vernon was dealt a bruising 51-24 loss at the hands of Winnsboro in their previous matchup back in January. Can Mount Vernon avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
