Baseball Recap: Six Straight Road Victories for Calvary Christian

Calvary Christian won the last time they faced Countryside and things went their way on Friday too. The Calvary Christian Warriors blew past the Countryside Cougars 12-3. Considering the Warriors have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Caden Schlotterbeck looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Maximus Mayes and Brett Garcy did most of the damage at the plate: Mayes scored three runs while going 2-for-3, while Garcy went 2-for-5 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most runs Mayes has posted since back in May of 2024. Jace Traina was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Calvary Christian's victory was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Countryside, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-5.

Calvary Christian didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-1 win against Indian Rocks Christian on the 17th. As for Countryside, they will square off against Hollins at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
