Softball Recap: Lynden Beats Cedarcrest for Their Third Straight Victory

Lynden extended their winning streak to three on Saturday, bumping their season record up to 12-7 in the process. They were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Cedarcrest Red Wolves. Nine seems to be a good number for the Lions as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

As for Cedarcrest, their loss dropped their record down to 8-12-1. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

For Cedarcrest's part, Abby Combs spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and four unearned) runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Cedarcrest saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Viola Ewing, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double. That double was Ewing's first of the season.

Coming up, Lynden is taking a road trip to square off against Sehome at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mariners have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13 runs per game on average), something the Lions will no doubt try to take advantage of. Cedarcrest does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
