Softball Recap: Seven Straight Road Victories for Marshall

While Marshall's victory against Lincoln wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Barristers had just enough and edged out the Tigers 7-6 on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Barristers also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

The team relied heavily on Cheyenne Velis, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. Those stolen bases marked the first that she snagged this season. Arianna Carrera was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Marshall pushed their record up to 4-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Lincoln, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-4.

Looking ahead, Marshall will take on Garfield at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.57 runs per game on average), something the Barristers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Lincoln, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Eagle Rock at 2:15 p.m. on the 21st.
