Softball Recap: Monrovia Bulldogs vs. Speedway Sparkplugs
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Danville, Monrovia was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They won by a run and slipped past the Speedway Sparkplugs 6-5. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Monrovia also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2023.
Tylynn Secuskie spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits.
At the plate, Monrovia saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grace Vaughn, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
On Speedway's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Hayli Clampitt gave up six runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up six Ks. Clampitt has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in four consecutive pitching appearances.
Monrovia's victory bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Speedway, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.
Monrovia will head out on the road to square off against Greencastle at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Speedway, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Western Boone at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
