Volleyball Recap: Neligh-Oakdale Takes a Loss

Neligh-Oakdale was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Niobrara/Verdigre Cougars. The Warriors were not able to make up for their defeat to the Cougars from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

Neligh-Oakdale started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-18, 25-16, 25-20.

Grace Wiebelhaus paced Neligh-Oakdale's offense, picking up 12 kills. Wiebelhaus got some help from Brooklyn Coover and her 20 assists. Coover was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Neligh-Oakdale's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Niobrara/Verdigre, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-4.

Looking ahead, Neligh-Oakdale will welcome West Holt at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Niobrara/Verdigre, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-1 defeat against Chambers/Wheeler Central on the 20th.
