Baseball Recap: Abbeville Wins Going Away Against Whitmire

Abbeville barely beat Whitmire the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Panthers blew past the Wolverines 8-2 on Wednesday. Considering the Panthers have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Trey Deason spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Abbeville got a massive performance out of Adam Beiler, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one double. Justin Oglesby was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Abbeville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Whitmire only posted an OBP of .310.

The win made it two in a row for Abbeville and bumps their season record up to 13-3. As for Whitmire, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Abbeville will host Ninety Six at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Whitmire, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Landrum at 6:00 p.m.
