Recap: Flanagan Falcons vs. West Broward Bobcats

The Flanagan Falcons fell victim to the West Broward Bobcats''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a serious blow against the Bobcats, falling 51-0. While losing is never fun, Flanagan can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 362nd, while West Broward is ranked 163rd).

Amir Collings threw for 106 yards on 12 of 19 attempts. Isaiah Maurice was his top target, picking up 38 receiving yards.

West Broward got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jonathan Morillo out in front who threw for 224 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 passes, and also punched in a rushing scores. Elijah DeWoskin was another key contributor, rushing for 125 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries.

The team's defense also helped out by holding Flanagan to a paltry 163 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to West Broward's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out six times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by Luis Rojas and Tristan Lewis who racked up five sacks between them.

This is the second loss in a row for Flanagan and nudges their season record down to 2-5-1. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 11.5 points per game. As for West Broward, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Flanagan will take on Somerset Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Somerset Academy comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for West Broward, they will be playing at home against Cooper City at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
