Baseball Game Preview: Deltona Wolves vs. Trinity Christian Academy Eagles

The Deltona Wolves will face off against the Trinity Christian Academy Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Deltona hasn't scored more than a single run for six games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.

Things were looking good for Deltona after they put the first points on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell 6-1 to University.

Deltona got a good showing from Nicholas Torres, who pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Torres has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Trinity Christian Academy). Their pitchers stepped up to hand Lake Mary Prep a 16-0 shutout on Friday. With that victory, the Eagles brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Braden Flores was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Reilley Oglageo, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Trinity Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

Deltona's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Trinity Christian Academy, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-5.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Deltona has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Trinity Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Deltona took their victory against Trinity Christian Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 10-0. Does Deltona have another victory up their sleeve, or will Trinity Christian Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
