After a string of five wins, Brownsburg's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 49-48 to the Lawrence North Wildcats. If the Bulldogs were looking for revenge after losing 66-45 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Despite the loss, Brownsburg still got an impressive performance from Avery Gordon, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 boards. Gordon has been hot recently, having posted nine or more boards the last four times she's played. Laniah Walkine was another key player, putting up four points.
Even though they lost, Brownsburg smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January of 2024.
Lawrence North's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jamaya Thomas, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Keadriah Butler, who went 5 of 8 on her way to 13 points.
Brownsburg's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-3. As for Lawrence North, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.
Brownsburg will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Jeffersonville at 12:00 p.m. Jeffersonville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.7 points per game this season. As for Lawrence North, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 76-68 win against Mount Notre Dame on the 28th.
