Football Recap: Salem Hills Beats Mountain View for Their Fourth Straight Victory

With a playoff win on the line, Salem Hills rose to the challenge on Friday. They put the hurt on the Mountain View Bruins with a sharp 35-12 win. Considering the Skyhawks have won three games by more than 22 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Ryder Hales was his usual excellent self, throwing for 185 yards and five touchdowns while completing 76.5% of his passes. Those five passing touchdowns gave him a new career-high.

Salem Hills didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Mountain View to a completion percentage of just 40%. The team can thank Benjamin Staheli for the heroic effort on defense: he. Salem Hills has been improving in that area: they had allowed a completion percentage of 0.61 earlier this season, but they've only allowed one of 0.61 in their last three games.

The victory (which was Salem Hills' fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-3. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 13.5 points on average over those games. As for Mountain View, their loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-7.

Looking ahead, Salem Hills will square off against Provo at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Hales and Gehrig Orchard. Mountain View does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
