Baseball Recap: Our Lady of Mount Carmel Comes Up Short in High-Profile Game with Severn School

Our Lady of Mount Carmel faced Severn School in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Our Lady of Mount Carmel took a 13-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of Severn School. The defeat continues a trend for the Cougars in their meetings with the Admirals: they've now lost five in a row.

Jake Vanhoy put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Vanhoy was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Andy Molina-Sosa made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Dominic Reynolds was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Severn School, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Perry Hall Christian at 4:00 p.m. on April 11. As for Severn School, they will take on Annapolis Area Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
