Softball Recap: Cassopolis Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Cassopolis dropped their record down to 6-7 on Thursday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They took a 12-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Marcellus Wildcats. The Rangers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wildcats earlier this season, when they won 10-0.

As for Marcellus, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-12 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games.

For Marcellus' part, Abby Tone made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off five hits. Tone was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Charlotte Cropsey and Hannah Sharp did most of the damage at the plate: Cropsey went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Sharp went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those two hits gave Cropsey a new career-high.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Cassopolis will face off against rival Lawrence at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Marcellus is set to challenge their familiar foe Bloomingdale at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
