Softball Recap: Notre Dame Academy Extends Winning Streak to Two

The matchup between Notre Dame Academy and South on Monday hardly resembled the 3-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Rebels never let the Colonels get on the board and left with a 21-0 win. The Rebels might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by six runs or more this season.

Mila Aldrin and Erin Connor made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Aldrin pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Connor didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Aldrin scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3, while Connor scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Nelson, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Spaulding, who scored three runs while going 4-for-5.

Notre Dame Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Notre Dame Academy and bumps their season record up to 4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for South, their loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Notre Dame Academy will take on Hudson at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for South, they will challenge Millbury at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
