Volleyball Recap: Charlestown Pirates vs. Henryville Hornets

After flying high against New Washington on Tuesday, Charlestown came back down to earth. The Pirates lost 3-0 to the Henryville Hornets on Wednesday. Pirates fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Hornets since Wednesday.

Charlestown was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Henryville work for it, especially in the third set. The final score came out to 25-19, 25-15, 27-25.

Kylie Thacker paced Charlestown's offense, picking up ten kills. Thacker got some help from Maddie Watts and her 17 assists. Harper Gray controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.

Henryville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ella Logsdon, who had 14 kills and five blocks. Those 14 kills gave Logsdon a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lylia Martin, who had 29 assists and five digs.

Charlestown now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Henryville, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-1.

Charlestown wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Madison on the 28th. As for Henryville, they have also already played their next game, a 3-2 win against West Washington on the 28th.
