Baseball Recap: Oak Hall Falls Short of Saint Francis Catholic in the Playoffs

Oak Hall and Saint Francis Catholic squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Oak Hall had to settle for second. They took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wolves. The Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wolves earlier this season, when they won 6-4.

Brody Beaupre put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs.

In other batting news, Gavin Jones was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Oak Hall: the team is 6-2 when he posts at least three hits, but 3-8 otherwise. Aaron Akins also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Oak Hall now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Saint Francis Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season.
