Football Recap: Eufaula Starts Season with Victory on the Road + How To Watch

Eufaula had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They enjoyed a cozy 32-18 victory over the Booker T. Washington Golden Eagles on Friday. The Tigers pushed the score to 29-6 by the end of the third, a deficit the Golden Eagles cut but never quite recovered from.

Eufaula's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaylin Wright, who rushed for 196 yards and one touchdown on only 14 carries, and also threw for 56 yards and a pair of TDs. Those 196 rushing yards gave Wright a new career-high. Another back making a difference was A'Torian Slaughter, who gained 104 total yards and two touchdowns.

Booker T. Washington's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Marquez Daniel, who picked up 95 receiving yards and one score.

Looking ahead, Eufaula will be playing at home against Russell County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 885 yards in their previous games. As for Booker T. Washington, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Talladega at 7:00 p.m. on September 5.
