Basketball Game Preview: Scott County Cardinals vs. Sayre Spartans

The Scott County Cardinals will challenge the Sayre Spartans at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.

Last Friday, Scott County was beaten by Frederick Douglass 88-32. The Cardinals have struggled against the Broncos recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sayre). They blew past Paul Laurence Dunbar, posting a 90-50 win. The victory was nothing new for the Spartans as they're now sitting on three straight.

Sayre's win bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Scott County, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.

Scott County lost to Sayre at home by a decisive 68-52 margin in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Scott County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
