Soccer Game Preview: Homewood vs. Huffman

The Homewood Patriots will face off against the Huffman Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Homewood is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alabama's top teams: Pelham, who was ranked 12th at the time (Homewood was ranked seventh). The Patriots and the Panthers finished up their contest with a 0-0 draw on Monday. The result (or lack thereof) marked Homewood's first draw of the season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Huffman). They never let Wenonah get on the board and left with a 12-0 win on Thursday. The result was nothing new for Huffman, who have now won 11 games by four goals or more so far this season.

Huffman has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 37 goals over those seven contests. With that draw, Homewood's record moves to 20-3-1.

Everything went Homewood's way against Huffman in their previous meeting back in March of 2019, as Homewood made off with a 10-0 win. Do the Patriots have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
