Football Recap: Lapel Bulldogs vs. Shenandoah Raiders
Lapel put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past the Shenandoah Raiders 41-21. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana football rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while the Raiders are ranked 232nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Devin Craig had a dynamite game for Lapel, throwing for 280 yards and four touchdowns. Brice Burress was Craig's top target, picking up 78 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Lapel was moving up and down the field and finished the game with 439 total yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Shenandoah only gained 197.
Lapel wouldn't let Shenandoah keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Lapel can thank Will Gilbert and Mason Page for forcing both of them. Another thorn in Shenandoah's side was Isaiah Young, who made 12 total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Although Shenandoah took the loss, they still got scores from Jarrett Helman, Cash Cowley, and Garrett May.
Lapel's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Shenandoah, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lapel will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Indian Creek at 7:00 p.m. As for Shenandoah, they will venture away from home to square off against North Decatur at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Shenandoah focused on turnovers this week as team gave up four on Friday.
