Basketball Recap: Northwestern Takes a Loss

Northwestern was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They took a 50-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Catholic Central Irish. While the Warriors didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Irish 14-8 in the first quarter.

Despite the loss, Northwestern saw an underclassman step up: freshman Peyton Roseberry almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Julia Shaw, who posted three points.

Catholic Central got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Danaysha Dearmond out in front who had 17 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Liliana Roberts, who put up 14 points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Northwestern's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Catholic Central, they moved to 1-8 with that victory, which also ended their nine-game losing streak.

Northwestern didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 59-28 loss against Oakwood on the 30th. As for Catholic Central, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 46-36 defeat against Triad on the 28th.
