South Bend Saint Joseph got a great performance from Jay Nuber as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched.
At the plate, Brody Zielinski was a standout: he scored a run while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Langager, who scored two runs while going 1-for-1.
South Bend Saint Joseph always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .577. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Friday Plymouth sidestepped Fairfield for a 6-5 win. The Pilgrims/Rockies haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Preston Wolfe was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Drake Feece, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Trey Delp, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
South Bend Saint Joseph's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Plymouth, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Plymouth's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: South Bend Saint Joseph hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .368. It's a different story for Plymouth, though, as they've only averaged .250. Will they be able to contain South Bend Saint Joseph's hitters?
