Softball Game Preview: Clark Cougars vs. Madison Mavericks

The Clark Cougars will head out to challenge the Madison Mavericks at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Clark has given up an average of 9.1 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Tuesday, Clark came up short against Churchill and fell 11-7.

Madyson Martinez was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. She has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last nine times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyna Marrufo, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Madison entered their tilt with Reagan on Tuesday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They blew past the Rattlers 8-1.

Clark's defeat dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Madison, their victory bumped their record up to 9-6.

Everything went Clark's way against Madison in their previous meeting back in March, as Clark made off with a 15-5 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
