Baseball Recap: Kings Mountain Takes a Loss

Kings Mountain was the 4-2 winner over Crest when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Mountaineers took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chargers on Tuesday.

Carter Roberts made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Kings Mountain is 4-1 when Roberts posts two or more runs, but 5-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Luke Heavner, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Kings Mountain has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season. As for Crest, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season.

While Kings Mountain had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
