Soccer Game Preview: Purcell vs. Cordell

The Purcell Dragons will challenge the Cordell Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Purcell has given up an average of 4.8 goals per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Purcell is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They lost 10-0 to Oklahoma Christian. While losing is never fun, Purcell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma soccer rankings (they are ranked 116th, while Oklahoma Christian are ranked 19th).

Meanwhile, Cordell kept a clean sheet against Chisholm on Tuesday. They blew past the Longhorns 4-0. The result was nothing new for Cordell, who have now won four matchups by three goals or more so far this season.

Cordell's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-9. As for Purcell, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-12-1.

Purcell took their victory against Cordell when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 7-1 score. Do the Dragons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blue Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
