Football Recap: Bishop LeBlond Takes a Loss

Bishop LeBlond was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 71-22 loss at the hands of the Archie Whirlwinds. The Eagles lost against the Whirlwinds in their previous head to head back in November of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 46-28 score last time.

When it comes to explaining why Bishop LeBlond lost, don't look at Cole Sigrist. Despite the final result, he picked up 110 receiving yards and two TDs. Sigrist also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making three total tackles and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception.

Even if they lost, Bishop LeBlond's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: David Aberer, Hawkins Ideker, and Landyn Woolery, who each picked up one sack apiece. Bishop LeBlond got some further help from Brody Kussman: he forced one fumble, made ten total tackles (1.0 for loss), and defended one pass.

Bishop LeBlond's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Archie, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-1.

Looking ahead, Bishop LeBlond will look to defend their home field on Friday against Kansas City East Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. The Eagles will be up against the Lions' rather soft defense (which has allowed 49.6 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Archie, they will venture away from home to take on Drexel/Miami at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Archie will need to watch out since Drexel/Miami has now posted at least 31 points in their last three contests.
