Soccer Recap: Merritt Academy Takes a Loss

After flying high against Canton Preparatory on Wednesday, Merritt Academy came back down to earth. The Mustangs lost 7-3 to the Memphis Yellowjackets on Thursday. If Merritt Academy were looking for revenge after losing 8-0 to Memphis when the teams met back in May of 2019, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Merritt Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2-2. As for Memphis, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-2.

Coming up, Merritt Academy will venture away from home to square off against Taylor Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Merritt Academy will be up against Taylor Prep's rather soft defense (which has allowed 6.8 goals per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Memphis, they wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and have already played their next contest, a 5-0 victory against New Life Christian Academy on the 25th.
