Basketball Recap: Grygla-Gatzke Takes a Loss

If Grygla-Gatzke was riding high fresh off their 57-34 takedown of Polk County West [Climax/Fisher] last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Grygla-Gatzke Eagles were outmatched by the Red Lake County Central Mustangs and fell 73-38. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 332nd, while the Mustangs are ranked 28th).

Grygla-Gatzke dropped their record down to 7-16 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road. As for Red Lake County Central, the victory was the 16th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Grygla-Gatzke will take on Fosston at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Red Lake County Central, they will square off against Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Red Lake County Central knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 20 games -- so hopefully Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal likes a good challenge.
