Brandt Schmidt gave up the fewest hits he has since back in March on Thursday. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over seven innings pitched, good enough for us to rate the performance as the best he's had all season long. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.
