Softball Recap: Clinton Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Clinton challenged Brodhead on Thursday. The Cougars fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 4-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Cougars in their meetings with the Cardinals: they've now lost seven in a row.

Clinton saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Keylee VanderPahl, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Clinton's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-4. As for Brodhead, their victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-2.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Clinton is set to take on their familiar foe Turner at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cougars 4, the Trojans 2.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Brodhead will challenge rival Big Foot at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
