Preview: Jamestown Eagles vs. Phoebus Phantoms
The Jamestown Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Phoebus Phantoms at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Jamestown has struggled recently with nine losses in a row, while Phoebus will arrive with 25 straight wins.
Jamestown fell victim to Warhill's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were dealt a 84-0 defeat at the hands of the Lions. While losing is never fun, Jamestown can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 278th, while Warhill is ranked 20th).
Meanwhile, Phoebus stacked a eighth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They claimed a resounding 77-0 win over Denbigh at home. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Phoebus' ten-point performance the match before.
Jamestown has yet to win a contest on the road this season, leaving them with a 1-9 record. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 1.6 points per game. As for Phoebus, their win bumped their record up to 10-0.
