Basketball Game Preview: North Star Knights vs. Box Elder Bears

The North Star Knights will take on the Box Elder Bears in a holiday battle at at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Box Elder took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on North Star, who comes in off a win.

While Knights fans will have to keep waiting for their squad to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Saturday's season opener. They blew past Great Falls Central Catholic, posting a 60-14 win.

Meanwhile, Box Elder lost to Fort Benton on the road by a 51-36 margin on Friday. The loss was the Bears' first of the season.

Despite the defeat, Box Elder saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Martay Stiffarm-Rosette posted 18 points. That was a full 50% of Box Elder's points, marking the third time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Shareece Raining Bird, who earned nine points.

North Star came up short against Box Elder when the teams last played back in January, falling 34-29. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Stiffarm-Rosette, who went 7 for 14 on her way to 19 points in addition to eight steals and seven boards. Now that North Star knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
