Baseball Recap: Mccreary Central Extends Winning Streak to Four

McCreary Central had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Somerset Christian Cougars as they made off with a 13-6 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-0 last Monday.

Noah Shook was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season.

In other batting news, Tristen West was a standout: he scored four runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-5. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Hayden Irvin was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

McCreary Central's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-2. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Somerset Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-7.

Looking ahead, McCreary Central will challenge Clinton County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Somerset Christian, they will take on Middlesboro at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
