Baseball Recap: Priory Takes a Loss

Priory was the 7-4 winner over Crystal Springs Uplands when they last played one another last Tuesday, but their luck changed this time around. The Panthers lost 13-2 to the Gryphons on Thursday.

Kai Aalfs put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He is becoming a predictor of Priory's success: when he allows at most two hits the team is 3-1 (and 2-3 when he doesn't). Aalfs was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Aalfs wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Matthew Sun, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Priory's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Crystal Springs Uplands, they pushed their record up to 10-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coincidentally, Priory and Crystal Springs Uplands will both be playing South San Francisco the next time they take the field. The Gryphons will host the Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on the 15th, while the Panthers will head out to face them at 4:00 p.m. on the 22nd.
