Farmington is a perfect 3-0 against Layton since April of 2024 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Phoenix will be playing at home against the Lancers at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Farmington has four straight wins, Layton has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
Farmington is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Bountiful, who was ranked 11th at the time (Farmington was ranked 17th). The Phoenix had just enough and edged out the RedHawks 3-2 on Wednesday.
Farmington was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 23-25, 22-25, 26-24, 15-10.
Meanwhile, Layton came up short against Davis on Tuesday, falling 3-0.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-19, 25-12.
Farmington pushed their record up to 10-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Layton, their loss dropped their record down to 5-8.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's contest: Farmington has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 6.1 aces per game. However, it's not like Layton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.5 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Farmington took their win against Layton in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Phoenix repeat their success, or do the Lancers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
