Basketball Recap: Connersville Comes Up Short

Connersville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were dealt a 69-39 loss at the hands of the Columbus North Bull Dogs. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 207th, while the Bull Dogs are ranked 31st).

Connersville's loss came despite strong showings from Jadan Peterson and Maddox Rees. Peterson went 6 of 11 en route to 16 points and three steals, while Rees posted eight points. That was a full 41% of Connersville's points, marking the third time in a row he's scored more than a third of the team's points.

It was another big night for Caleb Ferguson, who went 8 for 10 on his way to 25 points along with five assists and three steals for Columbus North. Ferguson has been hot, having posted 16 or more points the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Perry, who had ten points.

Connersville's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Columbus North, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-3.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing East Central the next time they take the court. Columbus North will head out to face East Central at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Connersville will host them at 7:30 p.m. on February 13th.
