Basketball Recap: Emily Zack's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Zionsville over Hamilton Southeastern

Zionsville and Hamilton Southeastern squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Zionsville had to settle for second. They took a hard 59-40 fall against the Hamilton Southeastern Royals. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Royals recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.

Zionsville's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emily Zack, who posted eight points and eight boards. Another player making a difference was Mckenzie Chapman, who earned ten points.

Leading Hamilton Southeastern to victory were Maya Makalusky and Kennedy Holman. Makalusky dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds, while Holman almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten assists. That makes it six consecutive games in which Makalusky has scored at least a third of Hamilton Southeastern's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayla Brinley, who had six points.

Zionsville's loss dropped their record down to 10-13. As for Hamilton Southeastern, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 24-0.

Zionsville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hamilton Southeastern, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 46-38 win against Westfield on the 8th.
