Tucson High Magnet School hasn't had much luck against Marana recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Badgers will venture away from home to square off against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Tucson High Magnet School comes in on three and Marana on six.
On Friday, Tucson High Magnet School didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Canyon del Oro, but they still walked away with a 28-23 victory.
Noah Chanez produced another solid performance rushing for 227 yards and one score while picking up 11.4 yards per carry.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Tucson High Magnet School was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 251 rushing yards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 79 rushing yards per game earlier this season, but in their last five contests they've averaged 244.7.

Tucson High Magnet School didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Kenzy Couch and Ezra Spivey. Spivey also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with 12. Tucson High Magnet School received some extra help from Spivey, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Marana duked it out with Casa Grande on Friday. The Tigers blew past the Cougars 51-27. Considering the Tigers have won five games by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Marana found their leader in sophomore Jeffrey Smith III, who rushed for 210 yards and a pair of TDs on only 12 carries, and also picked up 43 receiving yards. Smith III's longest rush was for an impressive 56 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Colten Meyer was another key player, throwing for 230 yards and four touchdowns.
One reason for the win was Marana's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Justin Elder and Greg Webb, who racked up four sacks between them. Elder is on a roll when it comes to sacks, as he's now posted two or more in each of the last four games he's played.
Tucson High Magnet School now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Marana, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.
Tucson High Magnet School was dealt a bruising 56-7 loss at the hands of Marana in their previous meeting back in September of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Badgers were down 32-7.
